Our History

2014

Our co-founders, Doug Irwin and Tom Allen, are fourth generation toy makers. In 2014, Doug began his path toward product innovation with new rapid prototyping technologies building toys, packaged in thoughtfully designed boxes, for Warner Bros. and Electronic Arts (EA).

A year or so later, Tom joined Doug just as the company’s first major video game collectors’ edition creation for ‘Tomb Raider’ was released, transforming the way collectible toys were presented.

2016

In 2016, the duo’s experience in design and product innovation took another massive leap forward when they secured a contract to build a water usage sensor for a well-known non profit based out of New York City, whose mandate is to provide clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries.

Designed for use in mountainous terrains, the team designed a cellular-connected water flow meter featuring a small in-line turbine near the faucet to relay water flow. The design rolled out at 1,500 wells in Nepal. This project was instrumental in spearheading the company’s R&D in automation machinery.

2017

After three years of building a reputation as innovative product makers, the company secured their first cannabis industry client - an up-and-coming brand that focussed on supporting sustainable, sun-grown, small-batch farmers.

The team’s expertise, speed, and execution resulted in this cannabis company’s swift and seamless shift to elevated and compliant packaging for pre-rolls, and whole flower.

2018

In 2018, KacePack™ was officially established, launching as a full-service packaging partner offering end-to-end supply chain solutions — from product concept and design to engineering, custom manufacturing, and delivery.

That year, KacePack™ sold its first one million flower jars and introduced its first sustainable packaging solutions: a biodegradable flower jar and a 100% recyclable pre-roll tin.

2022

By 2022, KacePack™ products were sold to businesses in four countries across three continents. The company had shipped over 50 million packaging units globally and built a global team supported by a network of Asia-Pacific partner factories approved in the U.S., Canada, and the EU.

That year’s product lineup included packaging solutions for recreational and medical cannabis across categories such as flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, vaporizers, topicals, and beverages. It also marked the launch of KaceFresh™, a line of automated machinery for packing and labeling.
